LSM Tech & Ag Park
As Home of Hope children graduate from high school, they have the opportunity to attain higher education and develop specialized skill sets to become employable adults. Some will go on to University in Haiti for specialized education as doctors, nurses, etc. Others will go to technical schools where they will receive opportunities to study many different trades.
Ultimately, no child is phased out of their home or family after high school. They are empowered to grow and continue learning so they can fully thrive as educated, self-sustaining adults.
LSM HIGHER EDUCATION & TECHNICAL CENTER (LSM TECH)
Many Home of Hope children will attend LSM Tech after graduating high school to begin advanced studies. Much like a traditional college experience, they will live on campus; but, from there they will commute to different colleges. At LSM Tech, they will also receive supplemental instruction including occupational skills and biblical training.
Their training will include:
- English as Second Language (ESL)
- Leadership Training
- Biblical Discipleship
- Mentor Relationships
- Advanced General Education Courses
- Hands-on Vocational Skills
Our goal with this incredible opportunity is to help each student be prepared for their future vocation, understand their gifts, obtain job internships or receive continued education at a university.
IN PREPARATION FOR THE FIRST STUDENT’S ARRIVAL IN THE NEXT THREE YEARS, LSM AMERICAN AND HAITIAN STAFF HAVE AN AGGRESSIVE BUILDING SCHEDULE PLANNED OUT, INCLUDING:
– Three Dorms (one for young men, two for young women)
– Restroom/Laundry Facility
– Three Classrooms
LSM AGRICULTURAL PARK (Ag Park)
While attending LSM Tech, students have the opportunity to work at the Ag Park as part of their classwork. Located on the same property, students not only have the chance to learn many new skills and acquire hands-on experience, it also helps subsidize their tuition.
CURRENTLY, OUR HAITIAN STAFF AND U.S. WORK TEAMS ARE WORKING TOGETHER ON MANY EXCITING PROJECTS:
– Breeding cattle, pigs, goats and poultry for meat and eggs that will either be sold at market or will provide food for Home of Hope families.
– Building mobile brooder houses for the expanding poultry flock, fencing in the property and constructing additional buildings for the animals.
Through these two years at LSM Tech and the Ag Park, students will be equipped with vocational skills, a real-world work ethic and job opportunities.
ALL OF THIS WILL CREATE LONG-TERM SUSTAINABILITY FOR OUR WORK IN HAITI AND OUR ULTIMATE VISION: A FUTURE HAITI THAT IS NO LONGER DEPENDENT ON FOREIGN AID.
