LSM Tech & Ag Park
As Home of Hope children graduate from high school, they will attain higher education and develop specialized skill sets to become employable adults. The students’ technical work also brings in revenue, providing sustainable funding for their ongoing education. Some of our students will go on to study at universities in Haiti for specialized education as doctors, nurses, etc. Others will go to technical schools where they will receive opportunities to study different trades.
Ultimately, no child is phased out of their home or family after high school. They are empowered to grow and continue learning so they can fully thrive as educated, self-sustaining adults.
HIGHER EDUCATION & TECHNICAL CENTER (LSM TECH)
Many Home of Hope children will attend LSM Tech after graduating high school to begin advanced studies. Much like a traditional college experience, they live on campus. For their first 2 years, they take core courses and focus on personal development. Following that, they can enroll at a number of local universities or remain at LSM Tech to complete a technical degree. During their time at LSM Tech, they also receive supplemental instruction including occupational skills and biblical training.
Their training will include:
- Technology
- English as Second Language (ESL)
- Business
- Leadership Training
- Biblical Discipleship
- Mentor Relationships
- Advanced General Education Courses
- Hands-on Vocational Skills
Our goal with this incredible opportunity is to help each student be prepared for their future vocation, understand their gifts, obtain job internships or receive continued education at a university.
LSM AGRICULTURAL PARK (Ag Park)
While attending LSM Tech, students have the opportunity to work at the Ag Park as part of their classwork. Located on the same property, students not only have the chance to learn many new skills and acquire hands-on experience, it also helps subsidize their tuition.
HERE ARE SOME OF THE EXCITING PROJECTS WE HAVE CURRENTLY IN PROGRESS AT OUR AG PARK:
-A livestock pairing program that will teach our students about responsibility and also provide funding for their education
-20 head of beef cattle, plus a reputable and growing pork operation
-A fodder system that produces fodder for us and also to sell at market
-A poultry & egg operation that feeds the children in our Homes of Hope
-A massive garden area for teaching the children about agriculture
-Additional learning components that include discipleship and ESL
ALL OF THIS WILL CREATE LONG-TERM SUSTAINABILITY FOR OUR WORK IN HAITI AND OUR ULTIMATE VISION: A CHRIST-CENTERED HAITI THAT IS NO LONGER DEPENDENT ON FOREIGN AID.
