OUR HOPE AND FUTURE IN JESUS

by Doug Isch, LSM President

Loving Shepherd Ministries is dedicated to helping the world’s most vulnerable children reach their God-given potential. We are grateful that by God’s grace and your support, our Christ-centered programs are transforming the lives of hundreds of children in Haiti, Ethiopia, and the U.S.

Every child we serve has faced moments of despair and hopelessness. Yet, Jesus comforts us when He says, “I know the plans I have for you…to give you hope and a future” (Jer. 29:11). It is often in these darkest times that God opens a path to a brighter future, providing healing, discipleship, and education to once vulnerable children.

Even now, despite the challenges of conflict and inflation in Haiti and Ethiopia, hope shines brightly, revealing promising futures to these once vulnerable children. In this newsletter, you will read about a young woman in Haiti advocating for justice, a family in Ethiopia experiencing healing through their relationship with Christ, and foster and adoptive families being equipped in the U.S.

We are extremely thankful for God’s love and for your support, as we offer a brighter future to the world’s vulnerable children!

“GOD IS SHINING A LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS FOR THE MOST VULNERABLE.”

LEADERS CHANGING HAITI FOR CHRIST

At LSM Tech, our Home of Hope students are deeply thankful for God’s provision. Given their challenging past, they do not take for granted the opportunity to attend college and deepen their faith through discipleship training. Especially since less than 1% of high school graduates can attend college in Haiti.

Sterlie, a current LSM Tech student, came to her Home of Hope from a desperate situation. Now, as a young woman, she shares how her life has dramatically changed and given her a passion to transform Haiti.

After graduating high school, I joined LSM Tech. I am in my third year of college, studying law to advocate for justice for the vulnerable while deepening my faith as a disciple of Jesus. I am thankful to our donors who have made this possible! I am the result of everything you have invested in me, and I look forward to a brighter future dedicated to serving Christ and improving my country!”

Today, students like Sterlie are becoming a new generation of leaders as they spread the Gospel in their communities and prepare to lead Haiti into a brighter future.

“OUR TIME” TO GIVE BACK

The LSM Tech students formed a weekly youth group called “Our Time”. This group, led by Sterlie and other campus leaders, includes both Home of Hope students and those from the community who attend LSM Tech. During this time, they discuss Biblical topics, pray, and plan community service projects to share the Gospel. We are grateful for their servant hearts, as they give back to their community to ultimately change their culture for Christ!

ETHIOPIAN FAMILY FINDS HOPE IN JESUS

Haset’s young life was full of heartache. Her mom, Genet, married young but was abandoned by her husband after learning she was pregnant. Left all alone and unable to find work, Genet fell into deep poverty and depression. After Haset was born, Genet felt ashamed, struggling to provide even the basic necessities for her daughter. In her desperation, she cried out to God for help.

Soon, LSM’s Family Preservation staff met Genet and Haset and heard their struggles. After joining our program, they both began to feel safe and supported. The staff provided counseling and business training for Genet, and together they started attending church. Genet shares, “Once again, I found myself on my knees, but this time I was praising God! He saw my pain and welcomed me with open arms. After joining LSM, I learned that God will always guide me through life’s storms. My personal relationship with Jesus Christ has changed my future. For the first time in my life, I feel dignity and have the courage to spread the Gospel and be a godly mother to my daughter!

As a result, Haset is thriving in school and church, experiencing the transformative impact of God in her life through your support!

SUPPORTING LOCAL FAMILIES

Our USA program helps local foster and adoptive children and their families reach their God-given potential. We assist in three key areas. First, we provide free Christian counseling so these families can find healing and hope for a better future. Second, we offer foster and adoptive parents the opportunity to stay at our beautiful LSM Respite Home, which provides them with time to relax, recharge and reconnect at no-cost to the families. Third, we help couples navigate the complexities of the adoption process. These three important initiatives provide help, healing and restoration to local families on the front lines of caring for children. Thank you for making it possible!

PRAY FOR LSM

Pray for our LSM Tech students as they continue their growth toward becoming Christ-centered leaders in Haiti.

Pray for our FAMILY PRESERVATION PROGRAM IN ETHIOPIA as single mothers and their children are being empowered to share their faith with their community.

Pray that our USA PROGRAM will bring God’s healing love and stability to even more foster and adoptive children and their families.
