Fatherless Family Redemption

Embracing single mothers and their children in partnership with the Drayer Family 

For nearly 20 years LSM has worked with vulnerable children in Haiti through our Homes of Hope program. As we continue to see the heartache faced by single mother families, we developed a small trial program over the past 3 years to reach vulnerable children before they were separated from their families and in need of intervention like a Home of Hope. This approach has proven to be extremely effective, and we are excited to launch our new initiative called the Fatherless Family Redemption program. Imagine being a single mother living in a small hut with a leaking roof, watching your children starve, and struggling to find work to pay for their schooling. Many single mothers often face the heartbreaking choice of sending their children into slavery like conditions. With your help, we can keep families together, empower them, and help them achieve independence while finding a redeeming faith in Jesus.

This vision inspired Matt and Tiffany Drayer and their ten children to partner with LSM again by sharing their musical talents in their new CD called “Embraced”. We are thankful for their commitment and passion in helping us expand our outreach to the vulnerable.

Meet Maria and her 4-year old daughter, Emaline. She shares, “My beautiful daughter has never met her father, who abandoned us. Since that day, I have struggled alone. We have no bed and sleep on a mat in our tiny hut. Every day, I wonder how I can provide my daughter with a better future or even a meal. I have felt forgotten by the world, but when LSM approached us, I felt seen and heard. It would be a blessing to join this new program and see my daughter thrive instead of merely survive, filled with hope for the future.”

Mirlande is a mother of two sons, and after her husband’s death, she has been fighting for their survival. “We live in a small house made of tin, with no running water or electricity. It’s heartbreaking to wake up not knowing how I’ll feed my boys. But I know God has not abandoned us because He has guided you to my family. I have nothing to offer in return but prayers for you. Thank you for showing compassion to my family as we work hard for a better future.”

Bernadine lives in deep poverty with little hope for an education. Her mother shares, “Every day, I fight for the courage to care for my daughter. Some days I earn enough money doing laundry for neighbors to buy a little bread. I continue to seek jobs because my daughter deserves a better future. She is full of potential, intelligent and loves to learn. Without support, I will not be able to send her to school, and that breaks my heart. I sincerely pray for help, not just for my family but for all the single mothers who fight every day with dignity and love for their children.”

Our new Fatherless Family Redemption program in Haiti helps restore dignity and equip families for a sustainable future while deepening their relationship with Jesus. Roseline, a mother of six, struggled to provide for her children after her husband abandoned them. Her children often went to bed hungry, which broke her heart.

Like most single mothers, Roseline felt helpless without the opportunity to learn skills to support her family. After she joined our pilot program she received business training, start-up capital and is learning skills that empower her for success and long-term sustainability.

Her children now attend school, gaining opportunities she never had. The smile on her daughter Angelica’s face reflects the hope they now feel. The family also attends Spiritual Development seminars to deepen their faith and receive assistance with food and supplies. Roseline is incredibly grateful for these life-changing opportunities, and her family no longer feels ashamed but embraced with love and dignity.

Our Gospel-driven approach empowers families with skills and resources to live with dignity and pursue their God-given purpose! It only costs $262 a month or $3,150 a year to help an entire family like Roseline and her children. Our goal is to assist up to 50 more vulnerable families by providing business start-up funds, training and temporary support as they work toward sustainability. Together, we can help fatherless families find redemption.
