THE WONDERS OF HIS LOVE

2020 Review with Loving Shepherd Ministries

Warm holiday greetings to you!

As we come to the end of 2020, I’m more thankful than ever for the Christmas season and the opportunity it provides to reflect and refocus on gratitude and hope. This has been quite the year – and mental, physical, and spiritual exhaustion are realities for many of us!

But we praise God that, unlike us, He never faints or grows weary (Isaiah 61:28). Exhaustion is not a problem for God! The Bible teaches that God takes special delight in graciously giving strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak (Isaiah 61:29). This has been our experience throughout 2020.

Your support in 2020 allowed us to accomplish significant things by His enabling grace. Our programs have grown substantially in all the countries where we work – Haiti, Ethiopia, and the United States. LSM is having more impact than ever – thanks to the generosity of our faithful supporters and the Lord’s abundant blessings. We give God all the glory for expanding His Kingdom through LSM!

But we don’t just measure our success by the growth of our programs. We measure our success by lives who have been transformed in Christ.

As you read the story of Esther (see right), the transformative power of God’s wondrous love is so evident! Imagine – a former orphan girl who was rescued because of God’s love, now sharing the Gospel in a way that softens the heart of a man bent on revenge. It’s truly remarkable!

God’s wondrous love isn’t just expressed to the children we serve. We see it manifested every day through the prayers and generous support of God’s people. Without your love and support, hundreds of vulnerable children would not be empowered to thrive. Without you, we couldn’t reflect God’s love to those we serve in difficult places. Thank you for so beautifully expressing God’s wondrous love to us!

Your support at year-end means so much and allows us to continue growing and deepening our work with the world’s most vulnerable children. And this year I’m pleased to announce that a generous donor is willing to match all year-end donations up to a total of $200,000. This means that the value of your donation is doubled!

We can’t thank you enough for your prayers and support. May God richly bless you in the coming year as we celebrate God’s inexhaustible and wondrous love!

With Gratitude,

Doug

THE GIFT OF LIVES SAVED

When Esther was born, her parents held their baby close and wondered how they would care for her. With little room in their small Haitian hut and few resources to care for her, Esther’s life looked bleak.

Three years later, little Esther’s life began to unravel. She lost her father, and her mother abandoned her due to mental instability. Esther’s only support came from her aunt and uncle, who both suddenly died in an accident. She was now alone. For the next few years Esther would miraculously survive on her own. Our staff found her standing alone by a burned down hut, surrounded by smoke and piles of ash.

YOUR SUPPORT MAKES STORIES LIKE THIS POSSIBLE! THROUGH ESTHER’S WITNESS, ONE MAN’S HEART WAS CHANGED AND ANOTHER PERSON’S LIFE WAS SPARED FROM REVENGE.

Esther eventually was placed in a Home of Hope. Surrounded by love and security, she started learning where true Hope comes from! She joyfully shares, “I am a different person now and I praise God for sending me to a new loving family.” Today, Esther has a personal relationship with Jesus and loves sharing the Gospel!

Recently, Esther began witnessing to a neighbor who was sitting alone on the side of the road. He was filled with rage. She gently sat down beside him and shared the Gospel. The man paused and looked down. He somberly said, “I would like to accept Jesus, but first, I need to revenge someone who has wronged me.” Someone had stolen his goat. In his mind, the price for that was death. With deep urgency, Esther told him about Jesus, the perfect Lamb, who forgave our sin. She shared that salvation was free and that revenge displeased God. In the end, the man said he would spare the life of the one who hurt him. Esther gave her new friend a Bible and invited him to church.

Esther, the precious little girl who was once found on the side of the road, found a man full of pain on the side of the road. His heart was changed and introduced to Christ, while another person’s life was spared from revenge. Esther’s testimony is evidence that your loving support is changing lives for eternity!
