Every child deserves the opportunity to dream about their future. Yet for many fatherless children in Ethiopia, that seems impossible due to poverty, abandonment, and hopelessness.
Through our Fatherless Family Redemption program, single mothers receive discipleship, business training and support so they can provide for their children and build lasting stability. As families grow stronger, children remain in school and become healthy, independent Christ-followers. Today, we’d like you to meet one of those families, a mother who achieved a sustainable livelihood and her daughter who graduated with distinction from university.

A DAUGHTER’S FUTURE CHANGED FOREVER
Konjit was one of the first children welcomed into our Fatherless Family Redemption program. After her father abandoned the family, she, her mother, Alem, and younger brother faced financial hardship and an uncertain future.
Through LSM’s Business Training program, Alem built a successful small business selling produce. This year, she graduated from the program after achieving financial independence and demonstrating she could sustainably provide for her family. Today, she is a role model and mentor to other single mothers in our program. The income she earned brought stability to their home, allowing Konjit to remain in school and pursue her dreams.
What began as an opportunity for a mother to provide for her family became the foundation for her daughter’s future and a legacy of hope for the next generation.
Konjit is celebrating what once seemed impossible – graduating with distinction and earning her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an Ethiopian university. She also serves as a Sunday School teacher and mentors younger students in our Fatherless Family Redemption program.
Through discipleship, education, and the generosity of faithful supporters, Konjit’s life has been transformed. Having experienced God’s faithfulness firsthand, she is now helping younger students pursue their education, persevere through challenges, and grow in Christ.
Today, Konjit is investing in the next generation because someone first invested in hers.
HELP EQUIP ETHIOPIA’S NEXT GENERATION
We are praying for $50,000 so more fatherless families can build sustainable futures while becoming healthy, independent Christ-followers who impact their communities.
One important way we can do this is by equipping the next generation. Youth unemployment is one of Ethiopia’s most critical economic challenges. This fall, our Ethiopian staff will expand our program to better equip youth for education, vocational training, employment, and economic independence.
NEW WAYS TO IMPACT YOUTH
FOR YOUTH AGES 15-25, WE WILL PROVIDE TWO PATHWAYS TO EQUIP THEM FOR THE FUTURE.
ACADEMIC PATHWAY
Youth who demonstrate academic aptitude and want to pursue a university degree will follow this pathway.

VOCATIONAL PATHWAY
Youth pursuing vocational careers will follow this pathway, combining hands-on learning with job skills training.

This fall we will launch an expanded Business Training model that equips single mothers to work together in small business groups. By combining mentoring, accountability, and shared opportunity, more families like Alem’s can achieve lasting independence while growing in Christ.
