LSM’S 2021 Year In Review

As the hymnist beautifully wrote many years ago, “It is the night of our dear Savior’s birth…a weary world rejoices.” Those words are so powerful and true. There is no denying that in 2021 our world continues to feel weary – from political division in the U.S. to civil war in Ethiopia to the devastating earthquake in Haiti. But just as the angels sang “glory to God in the highest” as they announced the birth of the Savior (Luke 2:14), we have reason to rejoice and praise God this year!

By God’s grace, your support in 2021 allowed us to make an incredible impact around the world. Our Christ-centered programs have continued to empower the lives of vulnerable children in Haiti, Ethiopia, and the United States – allowing them to reach their full, God-given potential and preparing them to become country-changers for Christ. Loving Shepherd Ministries is thankful for the generosity of our faithful supporters and the Lord’s abundant blessings. We give God all the glory for expanding His Kingdom through LSM in 2021!

As you read the story of Adelaide, the power of God’s love is so evident! Just imagine – a little girl who was born into an abusive home, orphaned, forced to become a child slave, and who tragically experienced the darkness of voodoo– now being rescued for God’s glory! We praise God that He has a good plan for every child we serve, and it’s our distinct privilege to play our part. We also praise God for you – for your prayers and generous support. Without your love and investment, hundreds of defenseless children would not be empowered to thrive. Without you, there is simply no way that we could reflect God’s love to children and families in such difficult places. Any success we had in 2021 is as much yours as it is ours. And, ultimately, God gets glory for it all.

Your support at year-end means so much and allows us to continue growing and deepening our work with the world’s most vulnerable children. And this year I’m pleased to announce that a generous donor will match all year-end donations up to a total of $200,000. This means that the value of your donation is doubled!

We can’t thank you enough for your prayers and support. May God richly bless you in the coming year as we give God all the glory and rejoice in His name!

Six years ago, a tiny baby named Adelaide* was born in a small Haitian hut. From that first day, life was incredibly difficult. Her father was physically abusive while her alcoholic mother ignored her. Tragically, those who should have loved her the most were the source of great pain. She was always scared and lonely, not knowing what each day would hold. When both of her parents died, she became a double orphan before she was even 6 years old.

Adelaide was then sent to live with a non-relative as a “restavek” or child slave. She wasn’t considered part of the family and was given no love. From sunrise to sunset, this precious little girl was forced to perform hard labor for the family. Her living situation was also tainted with voodoo and Adelaide still bears the physical scars from this awful environment. In such a short life, she had experienced much heartache and fear.

Even though she was in a remote village, our LSM staff heard about her situation. Thanks to the generous support of people like you, Adelaide was rescued and is now part of our new Naomi Home of Hope family! Adelaide is finally surrounded by love and security from a caring dad and mom, attends school and church, and is learning about the one true God, who loves her and will heal her from past trauma.

Adelaide – this precious little girl who was born into an abusive home, orphaned, and forced to become a child slave in a voodoo environment – is now finding joy and purpose in her new Naomi Home of Hope family. Above all, she is experiencing God’s unconditional love for the first time! We give God the glory that Adelaide’s testimony is evidence that your loving support is bringing hope out of hopelessness to the world’s most vulnerable children.
