The Weary World Rejoices
A Year in Review: 2016
DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT
between now and December 31, 2016!
Through your outpouring of love for the children we serve – this has been a defining year for LSM! Your gifts have never been more important. Between now and the end of the year, your gift will be doubled – dollar for dollar – up to a total of $210,000 in donations!
At 13, Jean never expected to be where he is today. His parents abandoned him when he was very young. His aging grandmother tried to keep an eye on him after that but he remembers feeling great shame, wandering aimlessly alone in the streets with no clothes, little food and no one to care for him.
When doors opened for him to come into a Home of Hope family in 2012, things changed dramatically. Suddenly, he had a mom and dad who cared about his needs and wanted to be with him. Far beyond the clothes, clean bed and even the educational opportunities that surrounded him were more incredible life-changing gifts—the sense of security and love he received from everyone around him. This hope is the foundation for who he has become.
The transformation was so dramatic that Jean didn’t know how to respond at first. But as he has grown with his family and in his faith, his response has been nothing short of awe-inspiring. This summer, Jean sat down with some of our staff and shared his testimony:
“My mom and dad love me and take such great care of me. Papi always teaches us about God and the Bible and how we should love each other. I am learning that children should obey their parents and that if we do this, God will bless us as we learn from each other. I will apply all that he gives me until I get old.
I am learning so much from them and, when I grow up, I want to be able to share this with other kids who need help. I want to teach them about Jesus too.”
Jean is thriving in his family, in school (He’s at the top of his class!) and in his faith. Despite his rocky beginnings of rejection and hopelessness, he is now surrounded by love and his future looks bright. We are thrilled that in his Home of Hope, Jean will receive the personalized support and tools he needs to reach his full, God-given potential.
