Prayer for the Ministry
Authentic prayer prompts movement. It first and foremost stirs God to move powerfully and creatively in the world to accomplish His purposes and achieve ends that only He can. Prayer is a conduit through which God moves freely and supernaturally among His creation.
But prayer also compels us to move. We can no more pray authentically for God to move in the world without being moved ourselves than a hose can conduct water without itself getting wet. It’s impossible. A commitment to seriously pray is necessarily a commitment to act. But it’s the right kind of action – action that is not driven by guilt or human zeal but rather by the Holy Spirit producing a joyful bond between the one praying and the One being prayed to so that when He acts, we act. Where He moves, we move.
Remember that God’s protection and provision for orphans is not a miracle... that is to say, it's not something God likes to do alone and without human contribution. God designed His kingdom so that we could take part in His intervention and redemption.
